Time limit on claiming?

Hi,
I'm brand new to this so I'm hoping someone can help.
Between 1998 and 2002 I paid numerous bank charges to HSBC as I exceeded agreed overdrafts, paid charges for direct debits that were rejected etc.
can I still claim these back? I have to admit I'm not very knowledgeable about what you can and can't do and how you go about it, so any advice will be helpful
I still bank with HSBC and haven't incurred any charges with them since leaving university

I would imagine you have no chance, because-
1, they wont hold those records anymore.
2, if they did, they could time bar your complaint about them under the limitation act, as they occured over 6 years and you have known you have had cause to complain for over 3 years.0 -
It says you can on the MSE Home page......
scroll down to banking and click on bank charges.0
