Santander........

Right anyone else had this problem.

I have just got a new mobile phone with new number.

I am trying to change my Mobile number on Santander online banking.

Should be easy you think!!! Well it says it`s going to send me a code to then enter on the screen (fair enough i think)

Untill i read the bottom bit saying we will send code to your old mobile number!!! Errrrmm this number no longer exists!!!!

Anyone else had this problem?

Regards

Not had the need to change my mobile number but it seems a bit silly they don't tell you there and then what they have in their FAQ:

What happens if I change my mobile number?
You can change the mobile number we send OTPs to in Online Banking via the 'My Details & Settings' tab. As a precaution, we'll send an OTP to your old mobile to authorise the change.
If you no longer have access to this phone number you can call our Online Banking Helpdesk and one of our advisors can help you do this over the phone.
NOTE: If you need us to do this over the phone, you must know what your old mobile phone number was to pass the necessary security questions.

They can do it over the phone. Don't let them fob you off. They gave me the run around. Firstly telling me to go into branch and the branch saying they cannot amend it but would have to reset my online banking.

Its a lie. They can do it over the phone. Just tell them to learn to do their job properly if they say they cant.

I don't get why people keep moaning about this! If they are just going to send the code to the new number you put in, how is that proving anything security wise? They might as well not send a code at all.

Exactly, and much better than having to carry a calculator around with you to make amendments. Unlike other banks you can actually change your address Online too with OTP. Google et al offer a similar service for their products...

The annoying thing is poorly trained staff offering a poor service- just reordering it so you have to set your Online banking up again. Which is a hassle.

Even worse is the management letting them getting away with such poor service... Or perhaps they're the cause of the problem.
