I am at the moment getting JSA.....Until may it was a joint account as my wife was out of work, she however found 2 part time jobs which covered 30 hours so she signed off and my JSA was adjusted accordingly..Unfortunately one of the p/t jobs has ended so she is now down to 15 hours a week and wants to sign on ...
.WE were initially told she could make her OWN claim as her money fluctuates ..However she has now been told that it will have to be a JOINT claim..which means MY money will stop apart from £10 and we will have to live on what she brings in ..approx £90 per week ..this would mean will will be worse off by approx £40 a week....My question is DO we have to have a joint claim or can we have individual claims as this would save a lot of confusion ...Failing that she just wont bother to sign on at all

You can have seperate contributions based claims but can only have a joint income based claim.:footie:
Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.

If you are entitled to contribution based then you can make an individual claim, this is for a total of six months. If income based then it has to be a joint claim and will take household income and savings into account.Lost my soulmate so life is empty.
I can bear pain myself, he said softly, but I couldna bear yours. That would take more strength than I have -

Thanks for clearing that up...It is obvious that my wife will not pursue signing on ....they have said she is only allowed to earn £10 a week then it will impact my JSA which is £50 (adjusted due to a small pension) how can they take more off me than i get ....all i want to do is pay my bills I am not looking for luxury ...how do they expect us to survive on £320 a month After i have paid my utilities etc I have virtually nothing left for food etc ....let alone my house which is mortgaged....I think someone in this government are living in cloud cuckoo land.....0

How long have you been claiming JSA for? Do you receive any help with mortgage interest payments?0
