I have oily skin and use the clinque 3 step for oily skin and bare minerals or lily lolo foundation. Mineral foundation works perfectly for me and Lily Lolo do small sample size pots which are cheap and you get a few wears from them i think 3 pots cost me 6 pound.

I've struggle with oily skin for years, tbh it's setled down a lot from what it was but still makeup seemed to slide off by about midday. Then I discovered estee lauder doublewear. It's a miracle. stays put all day.

Treating the oily skin and calming the oil production will be more beneficial then spending loads on cosmetics which will change colour and slide off as the day wears on

Use the mildest most natural products you can find for your cleansing routine. The harsher the product them more oil your face will produce to combat it and the more spots will appear

I now use oils to cleanse but love Liz Earle and decleor when i can afford it

Look up the oil cleansing method (OCM) thread on here. I have oily skin, and I have used that method for the last year. My skin is better than it has ever been. Just don't use oil immediately before putting on makeup.

I have tried for years now to go all natural, OCM included, it does not help my skin, it makes the problem worse. I have a lot of oil even when not wearing any make up, so i just some pressed powder to use in my T zone.

Mineral make up, i own a lot of it, it does not work for me, everytime i use it, i get new spots. I have given up on it and I am preparing to get a new make up bag, will get Clinique, Nars etc...

^^ Which brands have you been using that make it worse for you?

Remember as well that improving any skin type requires a multi-pronged approach, and you need to factor in most (if not all!) of the following: skincare, makeup (the type, how you apply it, how you remove it...), possibly diet, sun exposure, whether or not you smoke, just bad genes/bad luck...

...so to attribute poor skin to one factor (e.g. type of makeup used) is possibly over-simplistic anyway.

My mum and dad have never had spots, neither did my brothers.

I have used signature mineral, everydayminerals, lumiere, lilylolo, and a few others that i can not remember. I have many make up brushes that i clean weekly.
Used all the above while doing the OCM or buying natural soap free bar for acne skin. I have had times when i have gone on very healthy diets, exercise too and made no difference.
I think i am just one of those unlucky people, some others friends of mine do nothing and have lovely, clear skin.

Right now i am pregnant, and being using OCM and mineral make up, i get cystic acne ! very painful spots and decided i had enough, im putting everything in the bin, will get la roche posay cleanser and high end make up.

  • My skin is extreamly oily, even now when I am in my late 30s. I use an Estee Lauder BB cream, and use their double wear foundation as a concealer in tiny amounts to cover more where I need it, so use a BB cream to even your skin out and tiny amounts of concealer to cover spots. I use the bear minimum on my face, thank goodness my eyelids and lips are OK, makeup stays on there with no problems.

During the day I blot my face with oil blotting sheets or tissue, if you keep powdering over the oil it melts and looks as bad as melted foundation. You just cant wear lots of makeup on your skin if it's really oily. If you do use a powder, make sure it's a very light one.

I have tried all the main brands of mineral makeup mentioned on this thread and they last about 1 hour on my skin before they dissapear totally. I have used brands from specialist makeup stores which are meant to stay on actors under hot studio lighting, all of which evaporate or melts looking terrible.

I also use very mild skin care products, anything harsh or drying just makes me break out in spots. If spots are a problem go and see your Dr, I had a terrible outbreak of adult acne a year ago which my Dr sucessfully treated and my skin is clear again.
