mortgage protection question

What are you views on mortage protection ,to have or not to have that is the question?????I'm trying to cut down as much as possible I have looked on the comparisons web site and there are a lot that seem to work out so much cheaper I understand the bit about 0 excess period, I would like a joint policy with my husband I have recently had cancer but I am back to work now , how badly would this effect the amount of the policy? The only life cover we have is on part of the endowment, I stupidly thought the life cover was to do with the mortgage protection , or is it ? I am getting right stressed trying to sort every thing out.I pay out to different mortgage protections at the moment I think the reason is one is for a remortgage the other for the original mortgage. Please if anyone could offer any advice it would be brilliant.
