How can it be easy to lose track of what you've spent ? A pen and a piece of paper works quite well.

I suppose Tesco has some "fuzzy-logic" computer systems which they have programmed to charge a fee when it feels that you are too near your credit limit.
We don't need any of your :spam: here.
Are you for real? - Glass Half Empty??

The balance shown to you when you log in, includes some transactions not shown in the transaction history. The transaction history doesn't have an opening balance, so there's no way to determine what the actual current balance is, unless you use a pen and paper.

Having to use a pen and paper doesn't constitute easily keeping track in my books.

So it's probably a good thing you never had a credit card before online banking...

A pen and paper will never be down for maintenance or be affected by broadband issues though will it ? It's far more reliable.

A limit is a limit and you're not over limit if you're under it even by only a quid. It's a bit obvious isn't it. Go through their complaints procedure and if you don't get satisfaction take it to the Financial Services Ombudsman.

Also check your credit report: Could be you have an over limit red entry. If so tell Tesco to remove it and if they won't remove it take that to the Ombudsman too.
  • One thing to check is that it wasn't actually a late payment fee of £12. I got this added onto my June statement, even though the payment wasn't actually late - it was just that the required date of payment was a few days later than normal, although not sure why.

They refunded this automatically though the next month without any intervention from me.
