DVD writer LG GSA 4163B

Options
I am trying to back up my dvd collection and bought the lg dvd writer GSA 4163B. Having installed it without any problems, i am finding that it takes about 2 hours to back up a dvd using dvdshrink3.2 or nero. This should not take more than 30 mins. I have a pentimum 4 2.8 Hz. Does any one know how to speed it up or is this normal?

There are alot of factors which can affect :

    Writer Speed (2x, 4x, etc...)
Writer Interface (USB 2.0, Firewire, etc...)
Hard Disk Speed (5400 rpm, 7200 rpm, etc....)
    Hard Disk Space/Fragmented Data
All I ask is the chance to prove that money can't make me happy.

Depends on the "power" of your PC more than anything. DVDShrink is having to do a lot of work converting DVDs in most cases. 2 hrs is a bit excessive, but an hour isn't.

If you want to isolate the effect of the writer, configure DVD shrink to create an ISO image, and use Nero to write the image to DVD.

I have the previous model of writer, the 4160, and it is great.

    Hope that helps,

    Regards,
