Hello,
At the last minute(6-7weeks before i travel) i may seriosuly wish to go travelling around the world, and i am wandering how much RTW tickets would cost from the UK, going via the US(LA to be specific) and taking in the pacific island, Oz, Asia. If it makes any difference i am talking about purchasing at the end of next month(find out if i can go then), and setting off in Mid June and i would like to spend 4-5months in the US(I will have a J1 Visa, and spend maybe 6-7months in OZ
Any help here would be great??
Or advice on finding the cheapest quotes for something like this but without taking much time(pushed for time these days). Thanks

I arranged my flights through STA travel (use say no to 0870 for the number) and then booked it through virgin as its cheaper than STA. The route you have planned looks like the Air New Zealand, Virgin, Singapore Airlines package (star).
If you fly to LA go for Virgin over Air NewZealand (done both) and then if you want to do some pacific islands the standard route from LA is:
LA -> french polynesia -> cook islands -> fiji -> Auckland
Most people do just fiji though as the plane does this route you can stop at each place for around 15 pounds extra, just come back from cook islands though next time off to french polynesia as well (fiji is great).
If you have any questions about a trip or route just ask done a couple or RTW flights (one booked 7 days before i flew).
Also remember you can buy flights outside the RTW package to get to see more islands like soma and american soma which can be done cheaply.
Good luck
PS my next trip is from York to HongKong overland then onto philippines before oz0 -

I think i may hold the record for short notice RTW trip - my house sale completed on the friday, i got the funds from my solicitor on the monday and booked it that afternoon and on the thursday i flew to the USA on the first leg of my trip.
There are a number of companies who can do you a RTW ticket but the star alliance package is probably the most popular.Cover me in honey and fling me to the hermaphrodites!0
