I live in one of downhams outlying villages and find it a great area to live in BUT there are things that you may find difficult to adjust to with rural life.

The area as a whole is very peacefull and quiet, but some find the silence hard to adjust to.

Overall the infrastructure is not as good as you may be used to, the roads are fairly dreadfull in the winter with most never seeing a gritting lorry, and the coast roads are manic during the summer. If Internet access is vital check first as some villages have slow connections and Virgin has no idea that norfolk exists...

Shopping wise I find that I can get almost anything I need either in Downham or Kings Lynn and the area is well covered with the usual supermarkets but also has a wide choice of good independant buchers and farm shops for quality local produce

I would suggest that if you plan on visiting the area to have a look see you do it during the week to get a true idea, weekends are far quieter.

A final word of warning, the airspace over downham, kings lynn and local villages is used a lot by both the Royal Air Force and the Americans, mostly from about 8 in the morning to midnight during the week, this fast jet noise is totally different to airliners gently rumbling overhead.
At times any combination of my spelling, grammar or punctuation may be incorrect. Please do not pick me up for this as, after all, it is only an internet forum.
