Roof verges

Hi,
There are a couple of patches of mortar on our roof verges that look like they've seen better days.
These can probably be repointed but wondering whether it is better to have whole lot raked out and rebedded? If so, how much is it likely to cost on 3 bed 1960's house?
Do the ridge and hip tiles need to be removed to do this (they don't need doing)?
Cheers,
