I am looking for something to play music and listen to audio books on whilst i'm at the gym.
I don't want to spend a fortune on something that will be used for around 4 hours per week, and having looked online i'm confused about what I actually need to do both of these things. It doesn't need to have fancy extras like camera and video etc, but it does need to be straightward to use.
Can anyone help?

Do you want something to store your entire music collection on, or just a few CDs/books worth? Do you have a budget in mind?
Something like this:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Kubik-Player-Radio-Expandable-MicroSD/dp/B0041MMMWW
or
http://www.amazon.co.uk/SanDisk-Sansa-Player-Expandable-MicroSD/dp/B002NX0ME6
would probably be great for the gym0 -
Not being that familiar with how these things work, I assume when I buy anaudio book/music file online it is stored on my PC and I copy it across to my bit of kit? In which case I am happy for it hold just a few things at a time.
I was looking to spend no more than £50, so both of those are within the budget."On behalf of teachers, I'd like to dedicate this award to Michael Gove and I mean dedicate in the Anglo Saxon sense which means insert roughly into the anus of." My hero, Mr Steer.0 -

If you want to go cheaper, buy this £25.99 2GB mp3 player...
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sandisk-Sansa-Clip-Player-black/dp/B002NX0MFA
Then pop in something like this (£8.10) http://www.amazon.co.uk/Kingston-Technology-32GB-Micro-Adapter/dp/B0046XAROG
You've now got 34GB of storage for under £35. Then you can laugh at people with iPod nano's (a 16GB ipod nano costs over £100)
34GB would store about 7000 - 75000 songs
Make sure you're careful where your music/books come from, and ensure it's in one of the following formats: MP3, WMA, secure WMA, Ogg Vorbis or FLAC0 -
Thank you. I think i'll go with the cheaper option, then if I find I need more space get the extra memory card. I used to have something like this for the gym (think mine was a 1gb) and it worked fine
1gb is enough to hold around 250 songs @ 4mb each so 2gb should easily hold 400-500 songs

Don't bother with an iPod for the gym, it's a waste of moneyOwner of andrewhope.co.uk, hate cars and love them
