Best way to sell a bangernomic car!
Options
Hi, I am looking to sell my beloved banger and want to know how I can get the best price for it. In most peoples eyes it's a complete wreck- Peugeot 406 1.8, lots of dents, scratches, and bits of trim missing, 133K miles. But in my eyes it's been maintained impeccably - well the mechanical side has. In the last four years it's been serviced each year, new cambelt plus water pump, new clutch, complete brake overhaul and four new Michelin tyres less that 6 months old. It's also a high spec car with Climate control, auto wipers etc. It's never failed an MOT and has a full MOT and years tax on it.
I realise it's not worth anymore than about £400 if at all that, but don't think anyone will even consider it with the state it's in cosmetically and reckon I'm not going to get more than about £200.
What's the best way to get the best price for it and convince someone it's a great car?

I'd ebay it - mention that its tatty but well maintained and describe it warts and all with lots of good pictures.
You'd be suprised how much you get for it as someone may well want an old barge to run around it without having to worry about parking dents etc.0 -
I'd ebay it too, the way you are talking it down, if you put it on Gumtree you'd end up paying the first viewer to take it away!0

its going to do nearly £200 on the bridge of china
plus weigh the tax in
give me your battery:D
and no hassles
much simpler than having chavs turning up at your door trying to buy it as a pool car for drive offs macky dee burnouts and shoplifting0 -
Gumtree always works for me. I know, I know, its crammed to the rafters with Nigerian con artists, weirdos, nobheads and fruit loops, but thus far its always worked for me.
I just sold my 1996 Volvo which could generously be described as 'a bit battered' for £400 through Gumtree.0
