halifax underwriter in 1996

hi
i am after finding out who the underwriter is for the halifax bank for 1996 has anyone got the answer as the banks are giving me the run around.

    I doubt it.

    St Andrews was part of Bank of Scotland and this predates the merger.

    Not that it makes any difference in respect of PPI as they will not have sold the policy so they have no liability (albeit that they now have a common parent).

    I wouldn't have known that but still no liability for the insurer.

    found out i do not need it now for ombudsman they are dealing with it now halifax would not tell me so will see what happens when my claim goes in .
