Norwich Union Renewal

My car insurance expires on the 29th March and I have already sorted out my insurance with another provider so I DONT want to renew my norwich union policy. When I purchased my new insurance online I noticed that they will automatically renew the policy and take payment from the card (they supposedly send a reminder email nearer the time.)

Does anyone know if Norwich Union do this as well? What number can I ring to make sure that once the insurance expires they don't automatically renew it and take the money (from someone else's card!)?

Thanks
:D

  • After being quoted less than half Norwich Unions Insurance I have changed too, I phoned 0800 096 5152. This is their changes to Policy number, the guy I spoke to wanted to know who and where I was off to! I said search on the internet its far cheaper but no less quality

thanks for the number. Norwich Union's quote was far more expensive so I'm off!

Do I have to phone them to tell them I'm leaving or can I just leave it? (I'm abroad at the moment and at £1 per minute I'd rather not have to phone them) Im worried about them renewing the policy automatically

Its probably best to call them as most insurers do renew automatically.

My Norwich Union quote renewal was ridiculously high this time so I have left them too. I used their website to type-talk to someone and he said he had noted it on my file but I would have to write into them to get them to cancel the direct debit. I cancelled this myself and have written them advising them that I will not be renewing the policy with them. Check out their website, in the contact us section there is an email address you can use as well.

Norwich Union have made the decision to no longer to offer car insurance at a loss. They hope others will follow.

Its a brave move and it is one that many in the industry have been calling for as companies cannot continue to work at a loss.

fair enough i suppose. i'm sure they'll lose a lot of customers though.
