in Credit cards
I cancelled my Marbles card in November and they sent a letter confirming. In May a payment was paid to CCP (I forgot they took annual payments from this card and hadn't advised them) and I received an unexpected statement from Marbles for £31. The following month I settled the account in full and phoned to confirm a zero balance. I received a statement this month with 33p interest due by 17th Aug. I phoned to question it and was told that they could waive it but would have to send me a letter saying I have missed a payment (even though I hadn't) which I should tear up and ignore and only then could they waive the 33p interest as it was effectively "paying credit with credit"! I questioned this and said it was their interest not credit and asked whether what they proposed doing would affect my credit rating (I always pay on time by direct debit) and was told it would not, but I'm concerned that I've been given wrong advice. Can anyone advise?
