Hi Guys
Never been abroad at Christmas but current job includes a fortnight off from the 22nd Dec.:D So thinking of some winter sun, anyone suggest a good hotel in Tenerife? I dont mind if its all inclusive or self catering (or anything in-between) but would like access to a nice beach and some 'life' ie not totally remote.
Any recommendations? Budget around 1600 quid for a week for 2 adults who like to eat, drink a bit , little old for clubbing prefer good pubs...
Had a look at tripadvisor but head pickled going round in circles.
ETA - would prefer to travel from Glasgow International, but can do other airports - should have put this on, doh!
Thanks

Hi
We are going at new year, always do, love christmas day with the family, so we go for 10 days usually going 28th, this year we are going on the 30th.
you don't say where you want to fly from, but i would start with looking for flights, and hotel seperate, usually cheaper than a package deal, so i did a dummy run for you
flights with ryanair man/ten 23/30th £673 approx with luggage.
apts, oro blanco s/c £353
I'd be hard pushed to choose one of the all inc as to me they are not the best one's except the las palmeras which is £1250 (yikes)
you can get a full english for 2.75 euros
beer during the day 1 euro more expensive at night in the bars that have entertainment on.
meal 3 courses for 8 euros (smaller portions) all you can eat chinese 8 euros.
for me the best area of tenerife is las americas, (away from the small clubbing area) but around the safari shopping centre, loads and loads of bars in this area. Right nearer the las vistas beach and only a 20 min walk from los cristianos,
need anymore help feel free to ask0 -

If you want a bit of nightlife you'd definitely be best going for Play de las Americas. Everywhere else might be a bit quieter that time of year.0

we went to tenerife for christmas a few years ago, we stayed all inclusive in what is now called the lubay hotel, costa adeje.
withing walking distance to the nightlife of playa las america close to shops/shopping centre, plenty of bars nearby0 -
We have been considering Tenerife for Christmas also, but I'm unsure of the weather at this time, would it be pool and beach weather or is it generally cooler whereyby jeans and tops would be required?0

Whenever I've been in December it's been warm but generally quite cloudy.
Last time in December we only had the one sunny day out of seven.0 -

It can be hit n miss, but then again the weather all over the world has been changing.
But i've spent the last 4 new years eve on the playa de las vistas beach at midnight watching the fireworks, wearing a strappy dress, sandals, and just carrying a lightweight cardi should it go a bit nippy. Or jeans, sandals and strappy top.
Some years we've had wall to wall sunshine, some have been a bit overcast, but still warm,
It sure beats the cold english weather though.0 -
