Letter from DWP ... we think you are entitled to more income support!!

Thank you suelees, I suppose I am looking for some reassurance that I will get the Severe Disabled allowance (as it seems that I am entitled to it) but that they have decided not to give it. However according to the date on the letter they would not have received the form. It is a bit silly isn't it that they send these letters out and then a while after send another - why not wait until they receive the information they asked for? It just made me feel a bit uneasy, one day they say I am entitled to more and next minute get a letter saying it stays the same.0

Tobruk some times the letters are sent out automatically buy computer. The one you got is a standard one so possibly not even connected to the current situation. If you're worried give IS a ring tomorrow morning and ask them to check. It does sound by the dates that it isn't connected. Good luck. The stupid things you do, you regret... if you have any sense, and if you don't regret them, maybe you're stupid. - Katharine Hepburn0

Well today I received a letter with a cheque for Income Support. There was no mention of what it was but I worked out from the amount that it indeed was SDA for the period 1/2/07 to 28/3/07. All it then says isPlease keep this letter until next payment arrives
I shall probably receive another letter showing the details next week!0 -
That's great news Tobruk, hopefully the extra income will relieve the pressure a bit  Future payments should be included with your IS bank payments as far as I know. The stupid things you do, you regret... if you have any sense, and if you don't regret them, maybe you're stupid. - Katharine Hepburn0

Thank you sleepymy, I wasn't expecting it - I hadn't heard of SDA until they wrote to me and then all you good people here told me what it was all about! Yes the extra income will relieve the pressure as I will admit I have been struggling a bit, (I'm sure like may other people) even £10 extra a week would have been a God send! Living alone and trying to keep everything together if you know what I mean!
Thank you again

excellent news
you got a cheque as they usually pay arrears by cheque then add the new amount in with your weekly benefits from now on.I am so pleased for you
Are the creme eggs on you then ? lol :ABabyboo0 -
:rotfl: :rotfl: Of course they are
I may even stretch to a thorntons egg for you babyboo42! To tell you the truth I still can't believe it, it will make such a difference to me e.g if at any time I can't get out to get groceries and rather than rely on a visit from my sister (which fair play to her comes round once a week normally although lives 35 miles away and working!) or asking my neighbour to help, I could on some occassions shop online and get them delivered! I have occassionally done this but the delivery charge bumps it up.
Thanks for your help.

Suelees,
thankyou for your input I'm very greatful to you. To be truthfull I am nervous about spending it, you know when you have been for so long really on a tight budget it is very strange to treat yourself without feeling guilty about it! I know it's silly but I shall wait until the next payment of income support comes through on 11th April before treating myself just to make sure that they are paying it - not that I would ever doubt them ofcourse!
Thanks again
Llinos
