Hi, does anyone know if its worth telling Norwich and Peterborough that your going abroad? Do they just put a note on the account or do they actually put a flag on the debit card that lessens the chance of transactions getting referred?

Just tell them anyway Lloyds are always very good they logged my trip abroad today no bother.
In sure you'll be the first to moan when your card gets blocked for not informing them.Im an ex employee RBS GroupHowever Any Opinion Given On MSE Is Strictly My Own0 -

First thing, was using them as an example. Was talking about Norwich and Peterborough in main page and my actual question was what they actually do with the information. As in if they just leave a note on the account or if they actually put a flag on the card that changes the risk assessment system. As a note will not do anything unless the merchant calls up for authorisation.0 -

I am travelling very soon and a short while ago I contacted N and P about using my card abroad.
I had the following reply sent to me by secure message within online banking....
Dear xxxxxx
Thank you for the information. Our records have been updated with the information.
We recommend that you take at least two forms of payment methods when you travel e.g. in the form of credit cards, debit cards, travellers cheques and/or foreign currency. Please ensure that you provide us with an up to date contact number for you whilst you are abroad.
Yours sincerely

I've never informed any card issuer that I am going abroad, and have never had any problem with using any of my cards.
I opened an N&P Gold Light account recently for use abroad; I was in France last week, didn't tell them I was going and used it with no problems.0 -

I guess considering the majority of people with the account probably only use it when they go abroad, they kind of designed the system to expect it.0 -
