It looks like he will have to pay. It seems an exploitation of the students but that seems unfair.
Its hardly unfair - he would have been told the terms of the lease when he signed up for it and agreed to these terms. If evryone could get out of contracts after they signed them as it didn't quite suit their circumstances the country would be a much worse place.0 -
Even private lets have a 12 month contract usually. The only way to get around it as a student is to not sign for somewhere and move in in July but to move home over the summer and look in Sept - but it will still last through to the following July, you will save a bit of money but there is always the risk that all the good properties will be gone.!0

Why is he keen to return home so soon? If I were him I would be looking forward to extending the "student experience" right into the summer, and spending time relaxing with my friends etc. If he's got to pay for it, he might as well stay there and have some fun. And he could look into getting some part time work in the month or two when he is doing nothing? Just a thought.Don't pay off your student loan quicker than you have to.0

I think I pay up until the 1st July not sure when I finish yet the exams finish on 8th June if your last exam is before that date you obviously can leave before.0
