Why do accounts have to be connected online?

Opened a Halifax Passbook saver today, I know crap interest rate and should of gone with the YBS Triple Access Saver. (YBS Branch no where near where I work so will go at weekend and change account)

Anyhow's Just signed into Halifax to move 1k over to them for my £5. While on their website I noticed I can now get to my passbook saver 24/7! I'm a hopeless saver and wil easily transfer monies over esp at end of mth when need a bit of petrol or a bottle of wine etc etc

Why Oh Why does everything have to be connected these days? What is the point of it all?

Going to cancel the Halifax account and open a YBS one asap now!
Aspiring to be financially independent.... from my parents!

To be honest its probably more of a problem for customers the other way round when they can't view all their accounts with the same institution in one place when they go online.

I'm sure after you login in you can remove any accounts from view that you don't want to see (although its just as easy to reinstate them, which may not help if you are a hopeless saver as you say).

Or those in the know maybe able to clarify if there is a way if you call Halifax online help desk and get them to remove it for you, that way I don't think you will be able/tempted to reinstate it yourself in a moment of weakness.
