Cutting down vertical blind headrail.

in true money saving fashion we are looking to replace the blinds in our front window and have been given 3 almost brand new headrails, unfortunately they are almost twice the size of our window having formerly been instaled in a conservatory.
I'm looking for any advice, or an online guide, on how to cut down the headrail and remove the carriers we will not need from the string.
Many thanks.

as for cuttng the size down i used a hacksaw to trim my headrail down yesterday.
to remove the carriers would be a case of undoing the knot in the string at each carrier and slide it off the rail..Sealed pot challenger # 10

I've recently fitted a headrail from Argos. I'll post a copy of the instructions later in case it's any help. Can't do it now. My album of choice, Photobucket, is blocked at work.0
