O2 penalising their NI customers - My Europe Extra ending

I've just found out that O2 are stopping their "My Europe Extra" service. This gave me FREE incoming calls in the South. Now I'll have to pay a 50p connection charge to make/ receive a call if I sign up to their new service, but if I do that, then I will lose the data roaming package I'm on AND have to pay more for that too. Not happy!
I rang O2 & they say there's nothing they can do & that there's no point writing to complain as the decision has been made. They said they are not allowed to give out the complaints address anyway!
Is anybody else affected by this? Anybody got any ideas for an alternative provider with good coverage? Vodafone? March on Stormont anyone?
Maybe we can get the MLA's to do something for us?

How is this penalising NI customers? Surely it impacts on all UK customers not just NI ones?0

The South of Ireland is a different european country to Northern Ireland, so why would it be any different to, e.g. France?if i had known then what i know now0

Are there areas of Northern Ireland that are actually on O2 Irl?0

Because in Northern Ireland your local shop might be 1/2 a mile away down the road but it's actually within the South of Ireland. It's not like a big day trip to France or a holiday to Spain, it's just part of everyday life here. The South of Ireland is a different european country to Northern Ireland, so why would it be any different to, e.g. France?0 -
NI has always been a special case, as border area roaming was a constant problem - with calls being roamed despite the user being in the correct country. The My Europe Extra service was a very late enhancement, but a no time have I head that Irish Cross Border Roaming was being dispensed with.
If it is, contact your Stormont Reprsentative and explain what is being done as this will be a massive hot potato for O2 if true.0 -
It's the same with other networks..I was on Orange when I worked for Sky & quite often when I was around the border area's,my phone would knock over to an Eire network,so it's not just O2.0

Get a Vodafone tarrif ... my business tarrif allows me free incoming in the south, 25mb data per day in Europe, 200 mins outgoing in the south & 10 or 15 texts from the south plus all my usual uk stuff such as unlimited landlines, 900min mobiles, 1gb date, 2gb hotspot data, 300 texts etc...0
