Ok, I know my question seems ridiculous but I'm really stuck at the moment and would appreciate any help!

Basically, I've got a car but it's on the blink & I need to sell it anyway to get a slightly bigger car for taking my three kids back and forth to school etc. My problem is that I don't have enough money saved to buy a newer car without using money from the sale of my current car & I really can't be without wheels!

I'm hoping to get my car problem sorted now during the summer hols as I can manage being without a car for a couple of days as children aren't at school but need advice doing so! If my car was to break down during term time, I would be completely stuck with how to get them to school as live miles away from it & more so because I'm a single mum & don't have a partner with his own car or anything.

My current car is the first car I've ever owned, it's second hand and about 12 years old now. It's a small hatchback, I've owned it just over a year but it's starting to play up & I need a slightly bigger, sturdier car (preferably a diesel).

So what's the best route to take? Any help is greatly appreciated as it's really stressing me out, I can't stop worrying about it! :( Thanks

Car sales garages will take your car in part exchange.

Take a day to tour local garages. Look for the car you want, don't enter into any conversations, note the details of the car, move on and repeat. (If you know and trust one you have dealt with before, or have recommendations from friends and family, try the recommendation first).

Take your time, don't be rushed, don't be intimidated. Make a choice, show them yours, ask for a deal in part-exchange for your own. Ask to see all documents of the car: MOT (if applicable), Service Record, Log Book, etc.

TIP: if there is more than one example of the car you want at your chosen garage, they may be happier to see one go.

Providing your current car is roadworthy, don't spend any more money on it until you change it.
I think this job really needs
    a much bigger hammer.
