The orignal part specifications are Li Shin power supply. Output: 20V - 3.25A 65 W So 'Chinese' anyway.

    The Asus: LITEON 19V 3.42A 65W

Not a perfect match, but if the tip is the same, it will work.

No I'd expect it to run cooler. The majority of a laptop runs on 5V (the exception probably being the screen circuitry). as such using a lower voltage charger I would expect the power regulation circuitry to run a bit cooler. At the end of the day the biggest heat generator in a laptop is normally the CPU which runs at 3V/1.5V

No, but you should make some replacement feet for it, to maintain the airflow under and through the lappy :)

    Pieces of rubber? Thick cardboard?

How much did you pay for the thing anyway?

Is it still running Vista on 1GB RAM?

    What could i use?

as above, rubber, old coaster cut to size. I would'nt use cardboard as it'll compress over time and reduce the height of the feet, thus rendering them ineffective. Something with a non-slip surface if poss :)

You can buy stick on rubber feet from places such as Maplins.

Could be dust on the CPU heatsink, might need to be cleaned.

Poundland sell sticky pads for furniture feet etc that might be suitable for your laptop.

    Surprisingly, they only cost £1.

Making you own pads from anything spare you have will of course be free.
