Hi all , I really appreciate you all taking the time to answer and will try and get back to you all .. I am in the USA just now ( have been for ten days or so) and won't be back for a few weeks yet ( roughly)
Whilst at the airport I tried a clinique hydra moisturizer it reacted with my skin so that's another one knocked off the list
I went to sephora ( a beauty shop in the USA) they tried to get me to buy perricone ... I can't afford perricone so that's outa the window
I quickly skimmed and noticed someone mention nutrition ... Now this is something I hold very dear to my heart and try to get right ( but fully understand I have so much to still learn )
I no longer drink coffee but I also don't eat fish ( can't really remember anymore as I am on. A Phone stuck in a hotel room trying to read and answer this
I do think that it could possibly be Liz eagles c&p as I use that and never seemed to have this really bad skin before ... But my skin was very greasy and I has terrible spots and acne then t
... The Liz earle helped clear that right up ... For the first time in Years I have actually has some time without spots
Just read back again .. nutrition wise ... I no longer eat bread ... I eat 7 portions of veg a day ( no fruit just now as I am trying to break my sugar addiction ) not so sure about the sunscreen ( will look it up when I get up ) I use ultrasun SPF 50 as I spend alot of time outside
Will come back with more as I remember / get time / get access to the Internet
Bingo! :T
Acne is an inflammatory condition and can be a sign of a damaged skin barrier, excessive sebum production can be the skin's way of protecting itself from dehydration or chemical assault. Many acne fighting ingredients actually damage the skin's natural protective layers (stratus corneum and the beneficial bacteria in the acid mantle) and set up sensitivity. Sugar is highly inflammatory whereas the long chain omega-3s in oily fish are powerful anti-inflammatories, both can contribute to a faulty skin barrier leading to dehydration and increased sensitivity.
When you change your lifestyle or skincare products you make more than one change: what you stop doing and what you start doing. So your acne may have been improved by cutting out your old cleanser, by adding in the Liz Earle OR a combination of both. If I have the right product your Ultrasun is a chemical soup, which would need to be applied to clean bare skin because it contains both chemical and physical sunscreen agents. Zinc oxide has natural bacteriostatic properties and is gentle enough for babies bottoms, as well as being a good broad spectrum sunscreen; IMO you might consider a product that contains this and titanium dioxide instead of chemical agents.Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0 -
I have mega dry skin too (face and body). I can also get sore itchy.
Although apprently my skin is dehydrated rather than dry.
I've tried lots of creams; high end and supermarket and my current fave is a super cheap moisturiser - Superdrug Aqua Hydrating Night Cream.
Its frangrence free, Pareben free, hypoallegenic and dermatologist tested and most important it soaks in fast and leaves my skin soft and velvety rather than sitting on the surface and feeling heavy.
I use the SPF15 day cream as well and often get the two for £4.99 on an offer. The also do an eye cream/serum but i've not tired either as it don't used them.
For some reason i can't find them on the website - but there are losts of postive blogger reviews.I'm so boring, my clothes wanna keep someone else warm, someone cooler0 -
Hi Elantan,
If your food tolerances allow... I have found that avocado helps to keep my eczema at bay. I don't understand the science behind it though.MFW: Nov 2008 £156k, Jun 2015 £129k, Jun 2017 £114k.0 -
avocado is full of good oils.
i have very dry skin and used to spend a fortune on skin care (even got diprobase prescribed for me as it was so dry and sore at one point)
i now use the cheap stuff from lidl, aldi or home bargains and my skin has never been better.'We're not here for a long time, we're here for a good time0 -
hi all,
been searching for this thread for ages but couldnt find it ( you would think by now i would know how this place works)
i bought myself hope in a jar by philosophy it does feel like my face has had a huge drink of water
i think though i will try working on it via nutrition as well, i am addicted to sugar and i'm really struggling to beat this addiction ( the thought of diabetes terrifies me ... but weirdly not enough to stop taking sugar)
so i have alot of work to do ... better get started i spose
thanks all for the help0 -
I got told to use a hydrater rather than a face cream, and then to use a SPF instead of moisturiser. And to also stick to the same brand for cleanser, toner, moisturiser etc.
I ordered this yesterday
http://www.naturallythinking.com/products/Moisture-Cream.html
I think it will be really good as anything I have previously ordered from them has been great.
the nutrition side is really difficult, getting the right foods in the right proportions, taking a supplement each day is the easy bit.
Firefox how far off are we scientifically in developing balanced pills we can take every day instead of a meal, think of the time and energy saved.0 -
elatan, switch to xylitol or agave nectar instead of sugar and cut down foods that have sugar in them which seems to be everything, baked beans for example.
just googled it
http://www.besthealthmag.ca/eat-well/healthy-eating/the-truth-about-agave-nectar
in health food shops, coke and other products now have agave nectar instead of sugar, that so tempted me to go back to drinking coke.0 -
have to admit i dont like agave or xylitol ... i tend to eat non processed foods and dont put sugar in anything ... my problem is when i get a craving i eat anything with sugar ... chocolate ( which i dont even like) haribo sweeties etc
it's so frustrating ... but thanks for the info0 -
