Kobo Vox or Nexus 7?

Options
Hi, I know there has been discussion on Kindle v Kobo on other forums, but I wondered what your views were here? I'm looking for an ereader that I can use for basic web-surfing as well as looking at on-line newspapers, most with good interactive content. The Kindle doesn't really do the web thing very well, but I understand that it is a great ereader. I'm looking at Kobo Vox and Nexus 7 as small tablets that seem to tick both my boxes - but I'm not sure if the screen is the best for ereading, particularly on holiday! I just wondered - has anyone used either of these on a sunny beach anywhere and might like to comment on how they found the book reading experience?? Thanks, really appreciate comments! PS If you prefer other small tablets (eg 7") such as the Samsung Galaxy, I'd love your views as well!

I have a Nexus 7. Its a nice tablet to read books on indoors, useless outdoors as are any backlit displays. The e-ink on the Kindle is more suitable.
My biggest gripe with the Nexus 7 is the lack og Sky Go and BBC iPlayer apps, and the lack of Flash. also for most apps like Chrome it only works in portrait mode.
The Kindle app works fine on the Nexus 7.
That gum you like is coming back in style.

Try it free then spend £1.59 of your £15 credit if you like it. Works on home screen too.

Chrome works fine in landscape mode. The only thing that doesn't work in landscape out of the box is the homescreens because that is disabled. No extra software is needed to enable landscape mode out of the homescreens.

Make sure that the screen rotation lock is turned off. Drag the notification bar down and you will see an icon with curved arrows. If there is a padlock between them touch it to turn the lock off.

Just a heads up Penrhyn - I've found an issue with it. I'd downloaded all the Angry Birds games and found they wouldn't start up - setting the rotation mode to manual on those programs sorted the problem.
