Just been on flash Earth and it seems they have updated some of the areas around London. Much better clarity where I liveEducation is compulsory, school is not.

Google earth is a great program but the satellite images are not always the best..
http://maps.live.com has a bit of a rubbish interface but the images are much better (mostly), if you switch to the 2D view, you can choose 'birds-eye' view and it gives VERY close up shots of most UK cities, from four different angles too!0 -
Thanks for that Degeneratemoo it is a cool tool unfortunately the 3D thing only works in major cities which have been mapped. Also the images on there are also available in Flash Earth and as close up. (Sorry I'm not being picky (or am I
)
I do use maps for directions though, it is excellent for those of us who can't afford sat nav because the directions can be in map or pic format. Very useful particularly when close to the destination.Education is compulsory, school is not.

I did hear the other day Microsoft who do maps live are remaping UK in 3D, using planes and 3 cameras, one centre, and one either side to get the 3D. Hopefully it will be updated as in my town its at least 6-7 years old.0

if you need to get directions just go to google.co.uk and select "maps"...I believe it uses the same database as google earth and you don't need to download any program that will slow down your computer...0
