Hi
Not living or travelling in London I am a bit bewildered by the options and costs, perhaps someone could advise me if I have sussed it out and answer the question I can't find the answer to!!
So we are a family of 5 (2 adults, 3 children 14,10,6) we want to spend the day seeing the sights in London
We are travelling from Hatton Cross tube station(down near Heathrow airport) off peak(after 9.30am) traveling across all of the zones and want to use buses as well.
So I think I am right in thinking we need a day off peak travelcard that covers Zones 1-6
I worked out using the tfl website that it would cost us £20.20 (2 adult tickets and 1 child - as 2 youngest travel free)
Hopefully I am right so far but here's the question I need answering
Because we don't know exactly what day we want to go into London(weather dependant) I don't want to buy tickets in advance so can I purchase the travelcards on the morning we travel for the same price? And does Hatton cross have a manned ticket booth (hate machines;)!!) I know on normal trains it is cheaper to book in advance.
Many thanks in advance:)

Hatton Cross has a ticket office (according to TfL)
Check with TfL what ticket children need, as it varies with age and reading the Students and Children Tickets page, you may need a photo card for 11 - 15.0 -
As long as an adult or person over the age of 18 says that a child is under a certain age the ticket seller(or samf) should sell that ticket, at the weekend all day from start of traffic is off peak

Your 14YO can buy a one day child rate travelcard without the need for a photocard. For some other tickets a photocard is needed (and has to be applied for well in advance)
Though if ssray is right all you have to do is swear blind he's 10 and he travels free. Somehow I doubt if that will work.0 -
