if you privately rent you could be entitled to a top up housing benefit and council tax benefit

You will be entitled to some housing and council tax benefit but without knowing more I can't tell you how much. You must make a claim immediately as they won't backdate it unless you have what is known as good cause. Once they've awarded some and you're still suffering hardship them you can apply for a Discretionary Housing Payment which is a bit more on top of the benefit. Depends on different councils as to what they award. They will not give it to you unless you apply. You have to fill in a short form and send an income and expendiure list in. They award them for short periods and you have to keep applying but it's worth it if you get more money.
I'll get you, my pretty, and your little dog too!

What about Working Tax Credits? You are below the threshold for a start.

Do a search on https://www.entitledto.co.uk and see what it comes up with.

Be aware that there are special rules for apprenticeships.

Also, are you under 25? If so, again there are different rules (you will not be eligible for working tax credits, unless you have dependants).

    That is NOT true.

I do wish people wouldn't answer questions when they don't know what they are talking about.

WTC is paid without dependents. I get it and I am single with no dependents.

Yes, but are you under 25 or do you have a disability? This was what previous poster was saying, only under 25 with dependents or disability.

But what I put was absolutely correct - there are different rules for under twenty fives!

    Your own link states that!

I have to agree with dmg24. I'd assumed you would be under 25 if you are doing an apprenticeship.
