I put in a SAR request to Black Horse - I looked at my credit report so gave them the last 4 digits of my account number but they sent a letter back saying that they archive everything after 2 years (I thought they had to keep everything for 6 years??)
They suggested I contact my bank to get the account number from a standing order, but I bank online with Smile (part of the Co-Op). I sent my bank a secure message but they could only go back to October 2010 and there was nothing there for Black Horse.
I paid off my loan about 4.5-5 years ago so I know it comes within the 6 year limit...but I don't know where to go from here. I don't have paper statements from my bank as it is all done online, and I don't have my agreement as I had paid off my loan, never imagining I'd need it again (glad to see the back of loans!!)
Where can I go from here please? I want to send a letter to Black Horse saying that keeping records for 2 years only (as confirmed by my follow up call to them to make sure it wasn't a printing error) seems not very customer friendly in this day and age.
Any help gratefully received please.
PS I know it was front loaded as I always ticked the no to PPI box, however on my loan I was told it was a prerequisite and I would not get my loan without paying it and I remember the lump sum on the form.

Go into a branch and ask if they can find you, never heard of this 2 years rule, think they are playing crafty here.0

Thanks Amersall.
I'd gone into my branch originally and he said they send everything over to the head office after 3 years, but he would put in a request directly on my behalf...and that's when I received the letter.
I think they are just delaying, but it's soooo frustrating!!

Contact FOS and ask them what you should do.
A call to these may help.
