Have booked a hotel in Chelmsford for access to the Olympic Games as it's on the line to Stratford. Is anyone familiar with Chelmsford? Is it a good base to get into Stratford? Any tips?

Yes, it should be fine. Trains are frequent and should take about 25 mins. The line is usually very busy during commuter hours, so I'd avoid travelling then if at all possible.0
