Slimming World - to go it alone?

Hi all, just after a little of bit of advice regarding slimming world
I have followed it several times in the past and always had decent losses. I stopped a year or so ago and have piled in back on unfortunately - particularly when having cravings in pregnancy
Little man is now 6 weeks old and I'm desperate to get back on it - I have a fair bit to lose and desperately want to get fitter. In the past I have always attended a group and really benefited from the meetings and support. However, I'm trying to be as careful with money as possible and also may find getting to a meeting difficult because of the baby - I have all the books so should I go it alone and just spend 20p weighing myself at Boots (I don't want to have scales in the house again as I tend to get obessive with them) I'm a little worried I will lack the motivation on my own however.
It would be great to have any suggestions/advice/experience of following it without going to a group.
Thanks

I'm going it alone. I went to one group and just found it horrible.most had gained 4/5lb in a week  and others were just plain miserable.
I lost 7lb in 2 weeks but as I've just had a weeks holiday I have probably put on about 3lb... But I'm back on it tomorrow! I do it with a friend, but tbh, she's not really doing it. She's stopped putting it on but isn't losing either and she admitted shes not been too careful with her foods.
I want to be down to a size 14/16 jeans by July 2013. Currently a size 22/24 so only 4.5 jean sizes to drop!
Let me know how you get on and if you have any tips. Good luck!!! ^.^ xxxx0 -
The meeting is only for a bit of support/accountability. Do you maybe have a friend who would do it with you, or could try one of the weight loss threads on here for some online support?
Good luck with it x0 -
I joined Slimming World online only as I hate attending the classes and it does not fit in with my lifestyle at the minute. I think that if your mind is in the right place it does not matter if you go to class or not, if you are determined to do this you will do it class or not! Good luck I know it's not easy. You can stand there and agonize........

I did a 12 week weight management course a few years back. It helped us to understand our bodies and what we were eating, as opposed to just counting calories/points whatever.
We were all told to keep a food diary (inc. times), and had to hand it over to be 'checked' each week. Obviously there's no point in lying, but debating maybe chocolate or pizza (my biggest downfall!) and knowing someone would be scrutinising my diary the following week, and telling me off if necessary, definitely made me think twice about what I was eating! (Well, made me go for smaller portions anyway :rotfl:)
I found it a really good motivator, so maybe you could ask a friend to join you and you can check each others diaries every weekWealth is what you're left with when all your money runs out0 -
I agree with keeping a food diary - I've read in other places that this is recommended as a good way of remembering what you ate, where, when, why etc.
I would advise: only eat what YOU want. Never get into the mindset of 'oh I've got to have it because I'm out with someone/someone else has cooked it specially for me/it's what is expected of me' etc.Ær ic wisdom funde, ær wearð ic eald.
Before I found wisdom, I became old.0
