Best Credit Card to replace Vanquis?

Having previously had bad credit in the past, resulting in a number of defaults, I applied for a Vanquis Credit Card and a Capital One Credit Card about a year ago now. I have run both accounts really well and the Vanquis one now has a credit limit of £1500 and the Capital One still has a limit of £200.

I have recently been approved for a mortgage and we are now at the end of the house buying process (complete on Friday).

So, I was just wondering what's the best credit card to 'upgrade' to from Vanquis. I still have 1 default (settled) on my credit file but have no late payments or anything for the past few years.

I will not be applying until we've completed on the house but want to start looking so I can get rid of the Vanquis card asap.

Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.

    Agreed.

The flybe card is reasonably easy to get.
  • Someone will correct me if I'm wrong but when someone is applying for credit they are often asked how long they have been living at their current address. It might be best to hold off upgrading for a while until you have been in your new home for some time and got yourself on the electoral roll.

Best wishes for the move by the way!

Thanks, I will have a look at the creation cards.

Re the amount of time I've been at the address, I was planning on either waiting or applying at my current address given that I don't have to be out until the end of August.
