    I've been on IB since 1998, my review date was Oct 2010, heard nothing till I got the ESA50 last week. It all seems pretty random to me. Although I am 'long term' IB, so maybe 'Briancarson' is right.

    its in one of the threads at http://www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/forum?func=showcat&catid=10
    where it was mentioned 'Originally the plan was to migrate the under 25's first onto ESA with the remainder after the under 25's had been completed. ' soon after the DWP reversed this decision and its now ' under 25's will be migrated last '

    I have been though the process and this is the order they took place.

    I was a long term IB claimant who will be 60 next year so I looked into migration timetables over a year ago.

    Form ESA50 was sent to me late 2011 { had to be returned Christmas day 2011 }

    ATOS examination 12/4/2012 and was contacted on 24/4/2012 that they did not believe I had enough points for ESA and I appealed that decision 7/5/2012

    At the same time I started sending in Medical notes to cover myself.

    On the 23/7/2012 right out the blue the DWP wrote to me to say they had ' looked again at the facts ' and have decided to place me on to ESA { Work Related Activity Group } and that my appeal will no longer go to the Tribunal unless I wanted to appeal their latest decision.

    I have no idea when the ESA Unit will be in touch and until they do I will be covering my back and sending in medical notes.

    If the DWP had not reviewed their decision its likely I would have waited for the Tribunal until 2013 so its a long drawn out process.

    by the way for anyone who has still to fill in one I would advise that you download the form

    http://www.direct.gov.uk/prod_consum_dg/groups/dg_digitalassets/@dg/@en/@money/documents/digitalasset/dg_195544.pdf

    which you can fill out using your Computer and then printing it out when you are happy with it. So you end up with a form that is readable and also you can save a copy for future reference when they send another one.
