Special break in December with the kids

Husband and I normally go away for a weekend in December to help Santa - thought this year it might be nice to take the kids to do something special. Don't want to give the bank manager a heart attack though. Looking for maybe three nights somewhere we are going to Butlins for a week in September and taking them for a night in Cardiff next month. Dont mind travelling a bit - we are based in West Wales and the children will be 6, 8 and we may take my 11 yr old but he normally wants to do stuff with his dad. Any suggestions gratefully recieved.

Hiya, we do this on the cheap every year!
Last year we went to Glasgow and it was lovely, really Christmassy. There was a Christmas market and a fun fair at George square. We found everything to be really reasonably priced as well ,much cheaper at the Christmas market than the Manchester one plus it's a lovely city!
We booked early at the holiday inn riverside (currently Bogof night just search my user name I've posted the link on here can't get it on my phone) and we got really cheap train travel from virgin fare finder booked 12 weeks in advance and using a family rail card (6 of us cost £26 return )
Google Glasgow loves Christmas , it has it's own site!0 -
How about Bath? They have Christmas markets every year and its a great place to shop with good restaurants and hotels around for a nice break away.0
