Can you see water in the drum?

If so, either try another spin, or pull the washing machine out, remove the drain hose from the waste pipe and put it in a bowl at floor level, which should syphon the water out.
How do I add a signature?

What a coincidence, our WM has just started doing the same.
A few times we manged to open the door by running another spin cycle or a drain cycle.

I put the problem down to the fact there was still some water left after the cycle had finished so cleared out the pump filter (not a lot in there). But I will also have to look at the pipe to the drain to see if that is partly blocked with scale.
I only did this yesterday so do not know if it has cleared the problem.

Incidentally on our machine, a Siemens, there is an emergency door opening lever.

Switch the machine OFF at the mains

the thermal door switch may be faulty?
  • ive found some information online where if you hold the furthest button on the left and the move the program knob 2 notches the door will release. ive done this and this has now released. i did a empty quick wash afterwards and it did the same thing but didnt clear as easy.
there is no water in the drum. ill have a look at the filter.

all the lights also started flashing so not sure what going on.
