Could I put an SSD in my Sony PCG-K195HP?
If so, which one, or is there anything I should look out for please?
All I want to do is continue to use XP.
Cheers

 Can anyone explain to me how to put a signature here?

Do you have your install disc(s) for XP?
And for the main programs you use (MS Office? Games?)
And for any peripherals such as printers, scanners, etc?
As far as I can see, SSDs are all SATA style, so if your machine has an IDE HDD, you'll be stuck (assuming it to be a laptop - if it's a desktop you can get internal adaptors)0 -
That laptop appears to use IDA (PATA) connectivity and so I think you'll find it hard to find an SSD that has IDE connector as all are generally SATA now.
Download Speccy, install it and see what it lists under Hard Drives.. I think it'll show it as IDE and no SATA
Edit: there are some IDE SSD drives about but they look like first generation so personally I'd be wary of spending that sort of money (£60+) on an 8 year old Pentium4 laptop
You can probably make the machine faster by reloading the operating system if you haven't done so already, you'll need to back everything up (which you naturally do anyway don't you!?!) and then reload WInXP as new.
Never trust information given by strangers on internet forums0 -
on ebay do get very small sata to ide converters, and if your ssd drive is not as long or your drive bay has enough space.0

I personally wouldn't bother, XP doesn't even have TRIM so you will need to choose an SSD that can do it's own garbage collection (which likely won't kick in until it's been idle for a while) and even then performance can still suffer to levels below a standard HDD.
IMO it's not worth it at any level, XP is old and will thankfully be dead in a couple of years SSDs are new and it needs the new technology of a modern OS and hardware to make it even worth it, if you need a new hard drive just pick up a mechanical IDE HDD.0 -

I have all the disks and drivers thank you. As for the SATA, the next person appears to answer that. Can anyone explain to me how to put a signature here?

Have you already maxed out the RAM to 1GB?0
