Hi,
sorry if wrong section of forum
Recently booked a weeks holiday in self catering lodge in North West Scotland,
to cut a long story caught short one of our kids (4yr old) was playing on the lawn next to the lodge decking, we noticed they were absolutely covered in small insects on closer inspection the insects turn out to be ticks, we took child to the site reception, the person on the desk said she was aware of the tick problem but never thought of telling us to keep the kids off the grass, advises we should ring NHS direct as she cant do anything to help
we spent 3 hours removing ticks from childs head, body, ears etc had to pick them out with tweezers as theyd bitten into my childs skin (over 30 of them)
got up following morning and other child (2yr old) had 3 ticks on face and behind ears
our dog also had 4 ticks around his muzzle
we bought nit shampoo and tick treatment for the dog straight away and told the person at reception we were leaving 3 days early due to infestation, they didnt apologise or offer alternative acomodation
we emailed the site when we got home asking for at least a partial refund but they say the ticks are an act of nature and nothing to do with them so no refund
gutted....kids upset, summer holiday ruined

Did you remove the ticks yourself? If you remove them with tweezers they can reguraate their food and this can cause lymes disease. Please go to your gp and tell them whats happenedAlways on the hunt for a bargain0

Ticks around a site /holiday park isnt anyones fault it happens . your complaint is not being made aware of it and wether you should have been . I think the owners have a duty of care to warn you ,treat the areas ,grass bushes around the site and warn you of any chemicals around then guard off the areas . They have refused already any refund so i could mean a legal approach next . good luck... keep all details /appointments bills for your dog etc:cool: hard as nails on the internet . wimp in the real world :cool:0

How did you pay? You could take it up with your credit card provider if you paid this way.
I think you should be due at least a partial refund.Thinking critically since 1996....0
