You really will love Meeru. It is a stunning island
If you are there for 2 weeks you may like to take the All Inclusive complimentary cruise for a couple of days
I understand that this is a ploy to help the island escape their policy to overbook certain room types (something that seems too commonplace with islands under the CCR umbrella!). Have heard many good things about it actually and very much worth considering but as it's likely to be offered because they have overbooked it's definitely worth pushing for some extra compensation - spa credit, restaurant vouchers etc.

Yes they do overbook and offer the cruise to manage the rooms better. Everyone I spoke to said it was brilliant. We didn't take them up on it as we were only there for a week.
Our hot tub broke for 1 day so we got a complimentary meal in Asian Wok0 -
I went to meru 2 years ago and had an AMAZING time!! The food really is lovely in the buffet restaurant (not a standard AI buffet at all) and they had food stations where some of the food is cooked fresh for you.
We had spa treatments which were fab and I highly recommend.
Any AI place I've been has always charged more for its al la carte restaurants, so this is not a con or anything unusual. Maybe treat yourself one night, when I was there you could go in the one for a drink during the day (which we did several times and sat dangling our feet over the edge watching the tiny sharks) you can then check out the menus and whether you want to may extra as a treat one night.
We had spa treatments there which I cannot recommend highly enough.
You will have a fab time I'm sure..enjoy and congrats on the wedding!0
