Barclays (well, other banks too) question

Just a query more than anything else.... as I saw a similar thread about Crapital One on the CC board.

About 15 years ago I defaulted on a Barclaycard that I had as a student... I think the sum was about £50 (I know it was a small amount but I was a skint student at the time) - then moved away.

Now being older and wiser (and maintaining ALL my credit accounts in order) I was curious as to whether Barclays forget these misdemeanors (sp) after a period of time as I fancy one of their current accounts but don't want to waste a search.

On the back of this (while I'm here) what are the practices of the other banks from peoples experience? Do they blacklist customers for life or do they forgive and forget?

Thought it might be a worthwhile thread for others too? :o
I spent 25 years in the mobile industry, from 1994 to 2019. Worked for indies as well as the big networks, in their stores also in contact centres. I also hold a degree in telecoms engineering so I like to think I know what I’m talking about 😂

For a sum of £50, I think they'll be willing to 'forgive and forget', specially for a current account which might make them money (I assume your not interested in the free 'Barclays bank account' or 'Barclays cash card account')

Correct. Currently paying £7 a month for iPhone insurance on its own so thinking of packaging something up with the other frills.

Also, I assume I can opt out of contactless cards?
