Aer Lingus check-in times at Edinburgh

I'm flying from Edinburgh to Dublin soon :-) Anyone know how strict Aer Lingus is with check-in times? They ask passengers to be there 2.5 hours before flight time; I'm getting there on public transport, and buses arrive either two hours 40 minutes before I fly or three hours 40 minutes. I am not overjoyed at the prospect of spending three hours in the airport, but I don't want to risk watching the plane fly away without me

2 Hours 40 mins is plenty (and I always get to the airport REALLY early) it's just a case of can you guarantee you'll be there at that time.
Breakdown, traffic jam, Bomb scare etc (had all of those and others) and they apply to public transport as well ask your own vehicle. I've had two punctures on buses so far this year.

Better 1 hour too early than 1 minute too late.

Thanks. 2hr 40mins is if the bus runs on time. Traffic could delay things by an hour easily enough if it's bad (it's a long-ish ride). Bad problems could plausibly stretch to 2hr :(

The deadline is 45 minutes before departure. If you fear being late arriving at Edinburgh airport you might want to print out your boarding pass in advance. Online check in is free from 30 hours before departure. On the Edinburgh to Dublin route you can also check in on your mobile phone.

Thanks - I'll check in online anyway (queuing in airports isn't something I enjoy). Now just need to decide how much time to allow for delays etc :o
