Security Camera for home use - best type/easiest to fit?

Hi,

We would like to fit a small security camera to monitor our house and car which is parked outside. We don't have a huge budget and just would like something that could record any trouble as there have been some incidents locally.

Would like something that could be fairly well hidden/unobtrusive and which we could put up ourselves, inside a window or outside.

Please does anyone have any suggestions as a quick search on google/ebay shows up so many different types we don't know where to start.

Many thx in advance.

You either need one that records with a decent level of defenition and works in the dark or you should't bother- if is isn't good enough it won't stand up in court

You will also need a notice to tell people that images are being recorded.

I have CCTV at home, but it points inside my garden and is angled to keep it away from public areas.
    baldly going on...

    Hi,

    Many thanks for the reply.

Has anyone any recommendations for a specific type please?

Also re putting up a notice, without going into detail we did have a word with the police over the incidents and took their advice and we did ask about whether we had to display a notice and they said no. Pls does anyone know any more about this or where it is stated that you must put up a notice and in what circumstances?

    Many thx.

If you have a home network, then consider an IP camera. It sits on the network and automatically records or sends a email with images taken at intervals you set up.

Typically, for an outside rated cam, they cost approx £100. For me that was nothing as some thieving a rabs nicked 3 copper cylinders from my garden before I'd had chance to take 'em to the scrappy. I look forward to the next lot of scum who will be videoed doing it!
