wireless Adapter help

Hi there, we have a Desk top Computer with a Router from SKY ( I think the Manufacturer is Sagem though ) and I am wanting go Wireless, my question is do I need a specific Wireless Adapter or can I use any such as Net gear as I would like to buy one second hand ?

Any adaptor would suffice, wireless n if its one of the new Sky F@st2405n however if its a desktop PC and unlikely to be moved why not use powerline homeplugs, more reliable than wireless?That gum you like is coming back in style.0
