Leaking roof in extension

Hi guys,
My wife and I bought a house about 3 months ago, on the house there is an extension built by a reputable firm in Aberdeen. They include a ten year guarantee on the extension. A leak appeared from the ceiling during a passing shower - we put buckets etc down, closed off the water mains as a precaution and then cleared out the gutters.
The company are saying that they are can not honour the guarantee as we didn't get it transferred when buying the house. I would have thought that the 10 years is for the 10 years that the building is there regardless of the owner?
They said they could only send a joiner round as it is a Saturday and they couldn't get anyone else to help til Monday at the earliest, I explained my wife is pregnant (2 weeks to go!!) but she said all she can do is try to send the joiner round and that would be at a cost of ourselves. I declined as I didn't think that a joiner would have been able to do anything that I had already done.
So my question is - do this company have to honour the guarantee?
The leak has stopped now, thank goodness!!
