Hi Everyone,
First post on here - not sure if its in the right place!
I signed upto a gym where the gym was to be opended in 8 weeks time (this was back in April) - ie I signed up 8 weeks before it was due to open. However there has been a significant delay in opening up of the gym. To date it is still not open and not sure when and if it will be. I signed up for a years contract. No payments have been taken but I want to cancel this contract before payments commence.
Am I in my rights to cancel??

Have you contacted them and told them you are not satisfied and want to cancel? Is the membership only for this gym ie there are no other branches you can use?I have had many Light Bulb Moments. The trouble is someone keeps turning the bulb off
1% over payments on cc 3.5/100 (March 2014)0 -
Its just one gym not part of a chain. I think something in writing may do the trick? I wondered if there was a consumer law or something similar I could use?0

Yes, you should be within your rights to cancel, any term in the contract that allowed them to make significant unilateral changes would be considered unfair, just put something in writing to them indicating that you want to cancel and don't make any payments to them.
Did you get anything in writing from them when you signed up indicating the expected opening date?0 -
Thanks DarkSun
