dishwasher cleaning?

My dishwasher has started to stink. I've unclogged the filter so the only thing I can think of is that it's the pipes. The dishwasher is built in to the fitted kitchen and I don't want to pull it out. Is there anything I can do to clean it...any special cleaning stuff or something? Any help appreciated, thank you x

Cup of White vinegar on hottest wash works also on washing machines0

Buy a box of citric acid from the chemist about 50p put half of it in the machine wash on hottest wash empty. Should clean it nicely. The engineer told me about this much cheaper than dishwasher cleaners. Hope it helps you.0

vinegar contains acid much cheaper to use that especially if you get own brand around 60p a bottle will do several cleans

Aldi dishawsher cleaner is less than £1 for two doses and it does an excellent job. Getting citric acid from chemists can be a problem.0

I use Aldi dishwasher cleaner too and it seems to work well. But.... To me it smells like the urinal cleaner they used to use at my secondary school! :rotfl:0 -

One of the most common things that cause a dishwasher to smell is using it on "eco" wash. There isn't enough volume of water at a decent enough temperature to flush everything through properly.
I have had dishwashers since the early eighties and have never used any of these special cleaners - it's always used on "normal" wash.
The only thing that needs a clean every few days is to wipe round the door seal area where food/etc drops onto the door when you are loading the top shelf.0 -
OP what temperature do you routinely wash at?Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily Dickinson

Thanks - I always use an eco wash to save energy so that was useful to know, doing a full wash might help clear the smell! Thanks again0 -

Correct, exactly the same procedure as with washing machines-a regular 'intensive' cycle is needed to shift the grease. No free lunch, and no free laptop0
