Mattress for an adjustable bed

My son has an electric adjutable bed and the mattress is past tatty now and needs replacing. I understand that I can't just put a standard mattress on it and have found some companies that say their mattresses are suitable for these beds- but does anyone have any advice or suggestions for me?

I found this one:

and this one

but don't really have any idea what I am looking at.

You are correct that you can use any old mattress on an adjustable bed. 2 reasons they are longer then standard singles 6ft6 instead of 6ft3 and secondly the need to be made so that they can bend. Normal mattresses either have a rod edge or bar around the outside of the spring unit.

Out of the 2 that you have looked at the 2nd will be the better, hence why it cost more.

It all boils down to price and also what you are looking for. Pocket sprung is a must really for an adjustable bed, but normal pockets or topped with latex, memory foam. Etc..

Is this something an OT assessment could help with?

The bed is not being used for medical reasons, sorry I should have said that.
