Is this true? Or is there a way to get Google toolbar,(search), on Firefox 12.0?

From the link:-

"Google Toolbar for Firefox has been discontinued

For details, see the announcement. There will be no further updates or security fixes to Google Toolbar for Firefox. For this reason we strongly recommend discontinuing the use of the toolbar. Also see our Help Center for suggestions on add-ons and built-in browser features that provide functionality similar to the toolbar.
We’d like to thank everybody who used Google Toolbar for Firefox and helped us make it a compelling product."

Thanks, that looks a bit to techy for me.

I will have a proper look through it, but for the time being I have a "workaround", I have searched for "Google search", then bookmarked the page, now all I have to do is open the tab when I start the PC.

The Google toolbar is redundant as explained in the Help Centre link that you posted here

Why don't you simply change the default search engine to Google in the drop down box as shown here

Why don't you upgrade Firefox to the current release version 14.0.1?

I know the Google toolbar is redundant, but it does not mean there are not ways round it, as confirmed by the link supplied by dogmaryxx.
It is the search engine I want rather than the tool bar, hence why I put it in the OP title in brackets.

My search engine is Yahoo, and from your link I do not have the Goggle drop down box and the Yahoo drop down box will not change to Google as per the link you supplied, it only gives Yahoo options.

I did not know the latest one was 14.0.1. I only upgraded to 12.0 a few weeks ago.

OK, got the change of search engines, hadn't realised it was in the box next to the address bar.

It sounds like you have never learnt the basics of how to use Firefox.

Click on the links on this page here

The first "Get Started" link answers you Google search question, showing you how to use the Search Bar here

You really should not be afraid of keeping Firefox up to date. It is one program that has never let me down - updates are thoroughly tested by beta users before their official release.

Yes you are right, I haven't, I only use it for general surfing and general use and never felt the need or have the time to bother learning stuff I will only need now and again, but that link to Firefox "get Started" is very useful, thanks.

A quick question, I have spellchecker on and somehow inadvertently a while go I mistyped a couple of words then must have hit the wrong button to correct them because when they are now spelt wrong the spellchecker does not correct them,I am sure there is a way to "unadd" to the dictionary in the same way as you can add to dictionary, if so how would I correct a mistake I have added to the dictionary?

Modifying your custom dictionary is explained on this page here down near the bottom. A simple matter of editing your persdic.dat file more here
