Car insurance- help me???

I am 18 years old and i have just recieved my full driving licence 1 week ago. I am moving away in 6 weeks and i wanted to be insured on my mum's car for 4 weeks just to have a short driving experience. I cant seem to find a quote anywhere. I have no ncd and i had a licence for 1 week and im only 18 is there no hope?

Ask your mum to add you as a named driver on her policy.

There are companies out there, But it may cost more than a years cover.

Which as you have probably found, Will likely to be over £2000

I had a good play with some of the insurance websites a while back and one company would insure my daughter on a modified car on a short term policy.

I thought £130 a month, Thats not bad for short term. Errr not quite, Seems its £130 a DAY!!!.

Just google short term insurance and click EVERY link there is.

Mostly though because its not your car and its already insured to your mum they will see you as very very high risk.

Adding you to her policy will be less risky to them, As your mum will lose her no claims if you have an accident.

Your mum should be able to add you as a named driver for just a month but insurance companies all vary in their T&Cs so will depend who she's insured with. Ironically it's much cheaper to add you as a learner driver lol I paid £186 for 3mths cover (max allowed) to add son as a learner driver but once he'd passed his test they wanted around £300 a month to cover him!! :eek:

My mum is with sheila's wheels and they wont insure me unless im 21. i just need 4:weeks with a different insurer. I still cant find a quote.

I just did a quick google of temporary car insurance and found both of these. Just look at all the links and discount the ones which are for 21+
