What I don't get is fair enough a female is seen as the main driver but a male driver is seen being dragged out. But the male driver is still a named driver and can still have accidents.

The sex of the owner or the named driver is pretty irrelevant. When you front the "owner" of the insured vehicle will be mum or dad. Mum or Dad will be fronting for their offspring whether it be Joe or Josephine to get the lower premium.

So if Mum or Dad own the car and Joe has an accident in which the vehicle is totalled, then the Insurance Engineer may note that the car has stripes, a sunshade with Joe on it, a bangin' stereo etc etc.

If Josephine has the accident then the evidence of fronting may be the pink steering wheel and 400 fluffy toys and powered by fairydust sticker and diamante PlayBoy logos that Mum is less likely to have.
    The man without a signature.

What if the car has neither of that stuff? You're really generalising younger drivers here! Most young drivers wont be able to afford to pimp up their car after the insurance, even if it is fronted, it'll still be a lot for them! Young people do drive cars with just an air freshener for personalisation.
